The construction of Tumblr from space to place is completely done through imagery. There is minimal use of words/language except for quotes which themselves have been turned into images. The images the users of tumblr reblog* depict the self narrative they wish to convey whether that narrative be "real"as in a direct representation of themselves or exaggerated.
The pictures themselves can be of anything. Its the users who are blogging them that change the pictures from images to story, although this may not always be clear. To properly understand the importance or use of particular images, the viewer must have an understanding of the tumblr language. This goes back to Tuan's discussion of construction through words as refrenced when she statede. "it is simply not
possible to understand or explain the physical motions that produce place without overhearing, as it were, the speech-the exchange of
words-that lie behind them" . If a person was to a create a place for themselves on tumblr they would first have to be taught the tumblr language by another users. This sounds complicated but this is what Tumblr feels like it was designed for. It's about being in the know or understanding what tumblr represents to the users**. this references Kuttain when she stated "when we went from a oral world to a written world with the rise of the internet we became visual driven beings".This is what Tumblr was designed for, sharing images as a language for the users to express their true feelings, interests, likes and dislikes.
